  • The Youth Sounding Board (YSB) is a consultative platform constituted by the Delegation of the European Union to Nepal where Nepali youth can influence the European Union’s (EU) development cooperation in Nepal, making EU actions more participatory, relevant, and effective for young people. The board provides an opportunity for youth to be involved in the design, implementation, and monitoring of EU activities in Nepal.

  • The YSB is open to young people between the ages of 18 and 26. Applicants must be committed to contributing 15 months of time, although engagements will not be full-time. We encourage applications from youths with special needs, disabilities, vulnerabilities, or those from minority groups and government school backgrounds.

  • The YSB aims to bring youth voices to the table, influencing the EU’s development actions in Nepal It ensures that youth perspectives are included in policy and program formulation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation, making EU actions more responsive to youth needs.

  • Applications can be submitted online via a special call on Youth Sounding Board Nepal’s Facebook page and the European Union Delegation to Nepal’s Facebook, Instagram, and X pages).   • Applicants must:

    • Be between 18-26 years of age

    • Commit 15 months to participating in the YSB

    • Have a proven spirit of volunteerism and community involvement

    • Be willing to travel to rural areas in assigned districts

    • Speak and write in Nepali; proficiency in English is a plus

  • YSB members will:

    • Provide feedback on EU activities and ensure youth needs are reflected in policies

    • Analyse policies on youth, climate action, disaster risk reduction, and governance

    • Attend events, monitor EU projects, and provide input on community development

    • Connect with the National Youth Council and other youth organisations

    • Pitch ideas and work on local initiatives, known as Action at Home

  • No, the YSB is wholly voluntary. Although participation is unpaid, members will receive:

    • Remuneration for travel and accommodation costs

    • Mobile data costs for online meetings

  • YSB members serve an unpaid mandate for 15 months, during which time they work on various strategic priority areas, including programmatic engagement, networking with other youth organisations, and acting as a communication and advocacy platform to amplify youth voices. There will be periodic consultations, participation in project events, and opportunities to pitch community-driven ideas for Action at Home grants.

  • As a YSB member, you will be able to:

    • Learn about the European Union’s engagement in Nepal in various priority areas like education, health and sanitation, green growth, climate change, and civil society.

    • Travel across Nepal with EU officials and oversee projects and their implementation

    • Network with other European diplomatic missions, UN agencies, I/NGOs, and CSOs

    • Engage directly with the Delegation of the European Union to Nepal

    • Opportunities for personal growth and development as young leaders
