Aagya Shrestha

Aagya Shrestha

Aagya Shrestha, is a feminist and avid learner, from Silgadhi, Doti, Sudurpaschim Province. She recently completed her bachelor's in Social Work from St. Xavier's college with a Student Of The Year and a  Research Award and is working as a Program Coordinator at Ujyalo Foundation where she is particularly looking after a leadership program for adolescent girls in the Syangja district. 


After seeing and experiencing how difficult it is to be a woman in our patriarchal culture, she has always aspired to work for the advancement and well-being of girls and women. One of the things that make her want to be a change-maker is the rise in gender-based violence cases. She is optimistic that with the appropriate vision and resources, the situation can change. She had to break the glass ceiling and unlearn ingrained gender roles in order to get to where she is now. She has therefore chosen to focus on GESI and aspires to become a policy researcher. She is interested in conducting research, identifying social problems, and developing solutions.
As a YSB member, she strives to learn, network, and give back to the community in any way she can. She believes diligence and dedication can bring desired outcomes. In her free time, she enjoys reading books, watching movies, and spending time with her friends.

Abhash Karki

Abhash Karki is a YSB member from Nepal's Lamki Chuha Municipality 7, Kailali Sudurpaschim province. As a social science student, his interest is in conducting research on various social issues and finding solutions. He is eager to work to reduce social inequality in his society.

He graduated in sociology and anthropology with a socialistic ideology. He became more familiar with western social theories and history as a result of his post-graduate studies in English Literature. 

As aYSB member,  he hopes to play an effective leadership role in bringing youth-centered development to his community. He believes in the power of youths and believes that nothing is impossible if youths join together. So, with this platform, he hopes to amplify his work and cause for good.

He is very enthusiastic about participating in social activities. He enjoys working for the betterment of people with special abilities because of his differently-abled personality. His dream is to bring equality to society and to make people self-sufficient. He enjoys traveling to different places and music soothes his soul

Abhinandan Basnet

Abhinandan Basnet

Abhinandan Basnet is a social work enthusiast belonging to Karnali Province, Surkhet District. He believes in serving and spreading positive vibes to people in order to uplift his society, this eagerness has led him to participate in the Mahesh Ujjalo Abhiyan which happens to be one of the most important and life-changing events for him.

Academically Abhinanda is pursuing his bachelor's in law from Mid-West University, School of Law. His motive in life is to serve equally for the people who are in desperate need of help, and with his helping characteristics, he once got a chance to serve a 2-year-old boy named Mahesh BK to bring back his eyesight with 40% vision with the support of his community and doctors from Mumbai. 

As a YSB member, he intends to contribute and make a difference in his community. He also looks forward to learning, growing, and achieving great things one at a time.  Abinandan is a YouTuber where he promotes the culture and beauty of Karnali Province for the world to see.

Ankit Jaishi

Ankit Jaishi is from Dhangadhi, Kailali Sudur Pashim Province. His interest is to work in the social field and serve society, the community, and the nation.

He is a graduate of Tribhuvan University and has been accumulating good work experience from the different organizations of his interest. He is interested to gain experience and work in the sectors like youth, and disability and help homeless people.

As a YSB member, he wants to enhance his skill and knowledge however he can to achieve his goal.

Asmita Rawat

Asmita Rawat considers herself a green panther from the alpine mountains of Mugu, who grew up in the town of Kailali. She aspires to be happy and to induce a ripple of change in her society.

Asmita is a Forestry undergraduate student at Tribhuwan University in Kathmandu. She discovered her passion for nature and greenery and realized that youth needed to be on the front lines of conservation to preserve nature for future generations. That is what inspired her to volunteer for various organizations. She has been a member of the Coalition Wild Steering Committee and the Climateducate Education and Advocacy Committee for over a year. She is also passionate about women's empowerment and has worked on a project that involved developing leadership skills in young girls from remote regions.

YSB provides her with the opportunity to grow and learn from respected individuals, ultimately allowing her to improve her skills and experience. YSB also serves as a platform for her to give back to her community by sharing her knowledge and experience. She hopes to work with the local government and learn from them, which will help her transition from a student to a professional worker.

She enjoys being in nature, so she frequently goes hiking and cycling when she is at home. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, draws mandalas when she is stressed and claims to have seen every animated film ever made. She enjoys spending time with her family at all times.

Bipana Thapa

Bipana Thapa is an optimistic and an enthusiastic person belonging to a culturally diverse region rich in the natural vegetation, Dailekh.

She is pursuing Bachelor's in Law from the Nepal Law Campus. She is an indignant person who cannot stand injustice. She understands that pursuing legal knowledge is not only an inalienable right for people but also a way to strengthen one's personality and broaden the horizon of thinking. She has a strong desire to be the voice for the voiceless and to bring about a revolution in the legal, political, and socioeconomic fields through her advocacy.

As a member of YSB, she aspires to contribute at the municipal level. This opportunity has led her and youths like her to put forward ideas, perceptions, and concepts regarding climate, GESI, and governance. She wishes to educate the local people about the importance of voting, their constitutional provisions regarding basic fundamental rights and the legislative process, governmental organs, and their accountability to the people.

As a law student, she constantly fantasizes about an egalitarian society with no discrimination. She is always eager to share the knowledge she possesses with those who need to achieve it.

Chakra Oli

A sound of justice and strength for the disabled, Chakra Oli is from Rukum West. Understanding the unheard problems of Nepal, he grew interested in volunteering for the people and community.

Academically he is perusing BA LLB from the Nepal Law Campus, Tribhuvan University. Professionally he is teaching in his institute in Kathmandu. His passion for justice and law have driven him to advocate for the youth to get involved in municipal government and politics.

As a YSB member, his contribution is to focus on socialism and good governance.

Jairam Chaudhary

Jairam Chaudhary is from Thaskaul village of Kolhvi Municipality, Bara district of Madhesh Province. He has a strong desire to make young people informed and knowledgeable, and work towards institutions accountable and transparent.

He is studying Bachelor of Arts focused on Political Science and Psychology in Ratna Rajya Laxmi Campus, Kathmandu. He chose this field because it was completely new to him. After taking classes, he understood how political science and psychology are intertwined with the personal and societal setting. He worked as an intern at Jan Jagaran Youth Club (JJYC) for an education project which is trying to change the fate of marginalized children in the coming days.

As a YSB member, he wants to have a positive change first in himself and then in society. At the municipal level, he would like to contribute by helping the local people to be empathetic and active citizens through different community engagement activities as per the demand of the situation. During this tenure, he wants to connect with people on a deeper level and know the workplace culture.

He is a social person and is open to new experiences. He loves meeting new people, hearing their stories and loves being connected to nature.

Jay Ram B.K.

Jay Ram B.K., a justice aficionado who believes in social egalitarianism with adamant aspirations for ensuring the rights of disoriented people, belongs to the Dadeldhura District of Sudurpaschim Province.

He is a recent post-graduate in Humanities and Social Sciences from Tribhuvan University.  He has done his research in marginal studies and amplified the voices of the underprivileged group. He has been a member of several organizations: Dalit Students Union, Youth Advocacy Nepal, and Uniting Youths Nepal, and advocated for the freedom of women, Dalits, Madhesi, Indigenous, people with disability, LGBTQ, and people living in vulnerability.

He finds YSB as his altruistic motivation to bring the voices of marginalized groups into the mainstream. By acquiring the essential skills from YSB he intends to raise awareness against all sorts of discrimination in his municipal. Collaborating YSB with at the municipal level gives a healthy boost to his self-confidence for sustaining equal space and justice for all.

He loves volunteering and community participation activities.  He is an avid reader who likes to share his readings with others. Besides, pays out the rest of the time alone to explore a sense of spirituality.

Lokesh Giri

Lokesh Giri is from Naumule Rural Municipality-4, Kalika, Dailekh, Karnali Province. His interest lies in traveling to different parts of Nepal to study the natural geographical topography and capture that beauty in the form of photographs and videos reflecting different cultural, religion, and natural beauty.

He is currently perusing a Diploma in Civil Engineering from Mahendra Secondary School, Dailekh.

He is also the founder of Panchakoshi Jwala Yuwa Pratisthan and serving as the President since 2076. He has also worked in social organizations like FPAN (Family Planning Association of Nepal) and Everest Club in Dailekh.

As an energetic member of YSB, he wants to advocate for the youth to get involved in different community building works starting from the family level, community level, municipality level, district level, province level, and finally towards the national level.

He believes that youths have the potential to change the nation.

Namuna Giri

Namuna Giri is from Banphikot, West Rukum, Karnali. Her passion is derived from law and arts. She is passionate about standing for human rights and defending them as a social advocate as well as a legal practitioner. She is also passionate about telling stories through narrations and writings to cause a positive impact.

She is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in law. She is also the winner of the first-ever inter-college human rights quiz conducted by the European Union. Alongside, she has been digitally impacting quite several audiences through her storytelling on the platforms like Instagram: @namuney and youtube: namuney.

As a proud YSB member, her wish is to learn from the ground level working alongside other amazing members. She aims to achieve sustainable growth from every angle of approach whether it’s simply awareness or something that involves a much more complicated procedure. She believes that her experience as a YSB member will shape her into a much stronger individual.

Her prime interest in life is to non-forcibly add beauty wherever she goes, “to leave a place better than it was found”. She wishes to be the best version of an educated human being whose life beautifully impacts the lives of others. 

Neha Karki

Neha Karki is a young aspiring development practitioner pursuing a Bachelor of Development Studies at National College, Dhumbarahi. She is from Dhangadhi, Kailali. Her interest and motivation to work for the youth and vulnerable groups in society stems from her roots in Nepal's Sudurpaschim province. Having witnessed social and economic disparities since childhood, she is driven to create opportunities for others and reduce societal inequalities. For over four years, she has been actively involved in the youth and women leadership development movement. She strongly believes that collaboration is the foundation of all development work. 

She is currently leading the communication and media presence of SOCHAI, an award-winning non-governmental organization led by young women. Her previous professional experiences include working as a youth leader in AIESEC, one of the world's largest youth-led organizations, where her leadership led to her winning Best National Department (Social Sector) in two consecutive national conferences. She has successfully led an international campaign against gender-based violence in collaboration with reputable Nepali INGOs, CARE Nepal and Good Shepherd International Foundation Nepal. Her social involvement continues with her selection as the Provincial Incharge for Sudurpaschim Province youth volunteers in a national project run by a collaboration between the Maina Devi Foundation and UNDP Nepal. She believes in striving for excellence and actively seeks opportunities to connect with others while learning and growing. She is also one of twelve members of Plan International's Global Youth Reference Group, where she collaborates with the global headquarters to develop strategies for including youth in development projects. 

For her YSB term, she has chosen GESI as her focus thematic area which she is passionate about and wishes to learn more in this area. She looks forward to exploring the work that has been done to incorporate GESI in community development. With this role, she hopes to be a better leader and implement all her learnings for the prosperity of her home province. 

Nikita Bhatta

Nikita Bhatta is from Simara, Bara, Madhesh Province. She is passionate about helping vulnerable groups, educating community people about medical and environmental issues, and motivating youths to advocate for the pressing issues of the world. She aims to become a global leader working in international organizations impacting the lives of millions around the globe.

Nikita completed her undergraduate degree in Nursing from Maharajgunj Nursing Campus, Institute of Medicine, Tribhuvan University. Professionally, she is working as a Vice President of Youth for Nation-IOM and a founding member of the Health Charioteer of Nepal. She also worked as a secretary of Physicians for Social Responsibility Nepal, IOM. She was also selected as a delegate for the First Meeting of State Parties to the UN Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons.

As a member of YSB, she wants to draw the attention of local people to climate action, gender equity, and their responsibility as a citizen of Nepal. She wants people to take a collective effort as a community to save the earth and promote a secular, impartial and welcoming community. Through this program, she wants to learn more about coordinating a program, developing proposals for projects, and budget allocation. She wants to observe the actions of the EU in various geographical locations which may help her build experience in project management and advocacy actions.

As a hobby, she writes poems and enjoys watching thriller movies, psychothrillers, or listening to crime stories. She also has a keen interest in research with a few manuscripts published in national and international journals.

Pooja Chaudhary

Pooja Kumari Chaudhary is an ardent youth from the Malangwa municipality, Sarlahi, Madhesh Province. She is passionate and enthusiastic to work for the community and uplift the health status of people. With her zeal to grow her career in the field of public health, she decides to pursue a Bachelor of Public health from the Central Department of Public Health, Institute of Medicine (IOM). She believes in changing stereotypes existing in society by changing oneself at first. She has diverse involvements and never hesitates to learn new things. She has been actively involved to promote sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and mental health in different national and international organizations.

She believes being a member of the Youth Sounding Board is a milestone for her career. As a YSB member, she will try her best to be the rainbow in someone’s cloud.

The Motto of her life is ‘Empower and Appreciate’ the youth, strongly believes in the power of the youth through the synergetic efforts of youth from around the globe to ensure a better world for tomorrow.

She is a dedicated learner who believes in the spirit of teamwork. She loves to interact with people.

Prabin Chand

Prabin Chand is a child rights activist from Baitadi who grew up in Dhangadhi. Growing up, he observed the lack of child development in his area which led him to build a team at the ward level to open a child club. The motive behind his opening the child club was to give voice to the voiceless. He is also running and engaging in different organizations related to children and youth.

Academically, Pravin is waiting for the result of the secondary level examination taken by NEB from Dhangadhi Model Technical Secondary School.

As a YSB member, he wishes to enhance his life skills and practical knowledge by involving in different activities. In the future, he wants to contribute his knowledge and experience in policy advising and implementation.

Passionately, he loves public speaking and people recognize him through the platforms he presented his speeches. His hobbies include reading, listening, writing, involving in social activities, and public speaking.

 

Pragya Pant

Pragya Pant is from Bheemdatt Municipality of Sudurpachim province, aspiring to influence people through humanitarian response activities and gender equality.

Being an enthusiast Geomatics engineer who recently graduated from Kathmandu University, she is using her academic knowledge in the practical field for the people and community. Geomatics engineering has been her career path as it comprises location-based information without which we are spatially disconnected. She has been participating in humanitarian response activities where she contributes via remote as well as field mapping of the areas. She visited the Indigenous Chepang community and took a survey of their status for the national level Disaster Information Management System, BIPAD portal. She has also been a participant in the SLSI (She Leads She Inspires) program where 100 females from the Asia Pacific region were selected to become inspirations as female leaders.

As a Youth Sounding Board member, she feels privileged of having this platform for networking and advocacy. Being a member of the sub-thematic area "Youth in Climate Action" she wants to address the environment-related issues, youth perspective, and solutions to them which can be added to the formulation of laws and policies at the municipal level and develop the nation from the youth perspective. Networking and life-learning lessons from all the young leaders and professionals are key assets to guiding in her career building along with these responsibilities.

Besides all her professional interests, she loves traveling and enjoying the hills and mountains. She likes to explore nature more by traveling to new places.

Pratibha Shah

Pratibha Shah, from Siraha, Nepal, is passionate about environmental conservation, agricultural activities, and research.

She is a B Sc. Agriculture undergraduate student at Agriculture and Forestry University in Pampur, Chitwan. Agriculture is intertwined with the environment and food, so she has a strong interest in this field. She works as a technical guide and conducts research activities that she believes will lead the way in a golden era in the agricultural field.

She is eager to contribute on the municipal level as a YSB member to promote data-driven decision making for risk in agricultural activities and future challenges.

Her reading interests include books, research papers, and journals.

Prem Bahadur B.K.

Prem Bahadur B.K. hails from Ward No. 1, Bheri Municipality in Jajarkot District, Karnali Province. He is passionate about working in the fields of youth, children, and good governance. He actively spends his time engaging in social work and aspires to contribute to the community through the political sphere. Inspired by the words of leader Janardan Sharma "Prabhakar," he was encouraged to stay in his district and work for the betterment of his community. Hence, he considers Janardan Sharma as his source of inspiration.

He completed his Secondary Education Examination (SEE) in 2073 B.S. (2016 A.D.) from Shahid Smriti Residential Secondary School in Dang. After receiving a scholarship, he pursued his +2 in Science from SOS Hermann Gmeiner Secondary School in Bhaktapur. Currently, he is studying in the second year of his Bachelor’s in Management at Bheri Gyanodaya Multipurpose Campus in Jajarkot. He chose the Management faculty to better understand the economic conditions, systems, and organizational operations in society. Through this, he believes he can learn how to effectively run institutions with sound management practices.

He believes that success comes from consistent effort in the field one is passionate about. With the aim of working for youth empowerment, he established the Shahid Smriti Youth Club, where he serves as the President. He is also the Vice-President of the Bheri Youth Forum in his municipality. With the goal of contributing to good governance, he has been working at a local radio station in the district for the past two years, which has made it easier for him to function as part of an independent civil society.

Through the club, he has been continuously working on issues such as education, sanitation, child marriage, youth concerns, social taboos and superstitions, as well as talent identification and encouragement. He has also recognized and honored outstanding youth and athletes. The club regularly organizes interactive sessions between youth and elected representatives.

Since he is already working in the youth sector, he considers the Youth Sounding Board (YSB) a golden opportunity—a platform where he hopes to learn more about leadership. He wishes to explore questions like: How can youth become active in social work? What is the role of youth in politics and good governance? He believes youth participation in planning and coordination with the government is essential. Due to unemployment, many youths are compelled to migrate abroad. Some fall into harmful habits, which in turn hinders societal development. Therefore, he wants to contribute to creating youth-targeted policies and plans within local governments.

He also recognizes the flaws in Nepal’s education system, which has failed to produce competent human resources, and is committed to taking necessary steps to help resolve this.

People have many dreams, desires, and passions. He enjoys dancing and singing. He is also a karate player. He believes in doing work that inspires others rather than blaming others. His philosophy is:
“Success depends on contentment, but one should strive to do such work that gives meaning to one's birth—so that even after death, one’s legacy lives on.”

Priya Karna

Priya Karna is a nature lover, from Janakpur. From a very young age, the poor condition of Nepal’s bread producers "farmers," the endangered status of valuable plants, and the changing climate conditions have inspired and driven her to pursue a bachelor's degree in agriculture from Agriculture and Forestry University, Chitwan.

She has been part of organizational activities since the first day of college. She has worked as a vice president of the Technical Students Association of Nepal (TSAN), where she began as a general member. Along with her studies, she has been engaged in her entrepreneurship along with her four colleagues.

She is also taking part in mentorship sessions at Boston International College (BIC) startups and Climate-smart entrepreneurship of Nepali Yuwa in Climate Action and Green Growth Project. Being the breadbasket of Nepal, Terai consumes more pesticides than any other region, which has a significant negative impact on the environment. As a result, she is motivated to work on implementing climate-smart agricultural practices and reducing pesticide use at the Palika level.
Talking about YSB, she is involved in youth in climate change sub-thematic area and want to contribute from ground level through bottom-up approach.

As a hobby, she enjoys reading books, traveling to new places, and interacting with new people.

Roshan Kumar Mahara

Roshan Kumar Mahara is an environment lover. Growing up in a beautiful village, he is inspired by every aspect of nature. With the zeal to make his career in climate work. He is currently working as a climate activist in the Madhesh Province of Siraha District in Siraha Municipality.

Roshan recently graduated BBS from Tribhuvan University, Shree Suryanarayana Satyanarayana Morbaita Yadav Multipurpose Campus, Siraha. While studying on campus he got involved in the Dalit Development Forum, Sirha to reduce child marriage and Inclusive community for all under the project of the administration financial officer. He has been involved in activities such as youth, women, disability, Dalit, disaster management, and environmental protection from the beginning through volunteering.

Being a member of YSB, he feels connected and interconnected with the environment. Therefore, he has been actively involved in his area to bring changes in various areas for sustainable development and sustainable life.

He is excited to contribute at the municipal level to promote data-driven disaster management decisions for disaster risk reduction and disaster management.

Shostika Khatri

Shostika is from Doti, Sudurpaschim Province. She feels calm just by hearing the sound of birds and the fresh breeze of nature in her hometown. She grew up admiring nature but along with that, she also saw a lot of social problems around her. So, to eradicate the social problems and inequality, she is doing her Bachelors in Arts majoring in Sociology and Political Science.

With great interest in social work, she has been engaging herself in different social clubs such as children's clubs and youth clubs. Along with her engagement in youth-led activities, she has also worked on issues like child marriage, women empowerment, and unsafe abortion.

Professionally, she has worked as a facilitator in the net4good campaign to train more than 300 children on internet safety during COVID-19. She has also represented Nepal in APFSD Youth Forum organized by the Asian Pacific Resource and Research Center for Women.
Being a member of YSB, she wants to work in GESI (Gender Equality and Social Inclusion) and work for her province to bring change to society.

Sonali Singh Patel

Sonali Singh Patel

Sonali Singh Patel, a resident of Birgunj is an environmental conservation enthusiast. Growing up in the small town of Parsa district, surrounded by the dense forests of Parsa Wildlife Reserve (now Parsa National Park), she got some opportunistic sightings of the herd of wild Elephants. Since then she has been captivated by nature and had a penchant for biodiversity.

Sonali's love and passion for nature led her to pursue a career in forestry. She is a WWF Scholar and was recently awarded a 'WWF Memorial Grant 2021' to pursue her Master's degree in Forestry. For her, the prospect of becoming a voice for the voiceless is more than enough motivation to continue her conservation work. She believes in the hustle culture, so in addition to her Master's degree, she works as a DRRM Trainer in Madhesh province.

She had dreamt of going abroad to pursue her Master's degree after completing her Bachelor's in Forestry in Nepal. However, destiny had different plans for her. Her experience as a DRR fellow at the Saptakoshi Municipality made her realize that instead of departing for a foreign land to gain better exposure, maybe she should work on bringing the foreign exposure to Nepal itself and incorporate that into her country's system. Youth Sounding Board allows her to do exactly that. As a YSB member, she wants to get involved in everything there is. From better decision-making to diplomacy and public relations. She wants to evolve into a better version of herself so that she can contribute better and exert influence in the right places. And she wants to do it in Nepal itself.

Sonali loves mountains and dreams of owning a small wooden hut in the mountains someday in the future. She believes that her dreams will not get shape until and unless she works for them.

Sujit Kumar Chaudhary

Sujit Kumar Chaudhary, from Gaushala, Mahottary, Madhesh Province, is an ardently driven, spirited, and devoted young man who aspires to be a changemaker and give back to the community. He has been volunteering with various youth-led organizations since 2019.

Sujit is currently enrolled in the BSc. CSIT program at Patan Multiple Campus. He is a driven individual who values hard work, diligence, and determination. Sujit has achieved great success and reached significant heights. With all of his experiences working in various national and international organizations, Mr. Chaudhary is now the CEO and founder of Creating Opportunities; a platform where we share opportunities around the world.

As a YSB member, Mr. Chaudhary wishes to raise the voice of youth and make it heard by the appropriate authorities, as well as to make himself more competent in the outside world. His business strategy revolves around making long-term changes to society rather than short-term ones. He has a clear vision and an equally clear drive to make that vision a reality.

His fiery ambition has already changed the lives of many people. Participating in various youth-led organizations has taught him about the various nuances of society and the role of youth in the functioning of those nuances.

He enjoys meeting new people and experimenting with new ideas and innovations. He has a positive attitude, enjoys traveling, and works hard every day to better himself and his abilities.

Veer Chandra Kamati

Veer Chandra Kamati is a 19-year-old Janakpur-based educationist, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. The lack of opportunities in his hometown motivates him to work for the community, which led him to co-found a non-profit initiative called Roboteachnepal, where he teaches students about the fundamentals of automation and innovation.

He is a high school graduate who wants to use engineering to help in the field of medicine. His work platform and experience projects have unlocked the potential of Biomedical engineering societal obstacles and learning difficulties. He also enjoys serving his community in any way he can, whether through teaching or research. He created a prototype for visually impaired people and actively promotes sports culture in his community through various programs such as jogging and awareness, chess tournaments, races, and many more.

Veer has always wanted to work in his community, and YSB is giving him a direct platform to work on and implement his ideas for the betterment of his community. He will be advocating for human rights, learning about the electoral process, and engaging in dialogue with various personnel. He will take advantage of this opportunity to learn and improve himself to become a better person.

Veer enjoys chess and uses it as a vital tool to refresh himself whenever he is bored. He also enjoys tinkering with electronics and attempting to create things using various methods.
